Hugh O'Brian was born April 19, 1925 as Hugh J. Krampe. After briefly attending the University of Cincinnati, he enlisted in the Marine Corps at age 17. He received an honorable discharge from the service and moved to Los Angeles where he began acting in a small theater group. Ida Lupino signed him to play his first starring role in Young lovers.
